LIVE FROM EAGLE ROCK, IT’S SATURDAY EVENING

This is my first ever Saturday Evening Blog. Tomorrow is Hollywood’s biggest day. While I love movies I don’t care who wins. Feel a bit bad for the losers. Will there be a lot of political comments?  No one will discuss the important issue of cloning the wooly mammoth. Many consider these to be the worst of times. What about being an Anglo Saxon in 1066, someone who forgot to get their plague shot in the 14th century, or a fire insurance company in 1666 London?

Is there any good news these days? A panda is going back to China, not as a hostage, but part of a breeding program to help reintroduce pandas back into the wild. Not sure how the pandas feel about that. There’s the dwarf star and the seven earth like planets only 44 million light years away. Will the planets be named Sleepy, Grumpy, etc? Remember even if the glass is half empty, it’s better to make lemonade than curse the darkness.

GIANT BAT EATING CENTIPEDES AND SINKING MEXICO CITY

Beyond that just read that some scientists believe that there is actually a 7th continent. But most of it is under water. I think it is being called Zealander. I think it is too early to colonize an under water continent. And sea grass is disappearing. That is not good. Neither is the fact that Mexico City is sinking. There is no danger that it will fall below sea level, however. But this presents problems for this mega city of over twenty million. Life everywhere is complicated.  But that may be good. If it were too simple we would probably still be one celled animals.

Speaking of animals, one study says that cats may be as intelligent as dogs. Dog lovers would probably say this is fake news put out by cat lovers. There are numerous studies about when human and dogs became so close.  Some feel that it started as long as 30,000 years ago. Just to be honest, I have had both dogs and cats. Dogs are better for walking on a leash and cats are better at eating birds. Now to part of the headline story. The are giant centipedes that eat bats and giant spiders that eat snakes and small rodents. It is good not to be a bat around these creatures.   As far the rest of the news, President Trump had a news conference and some  species  of army worm is endangering the corn crop in Africa. The two events are probably not related.
