Three beets and a turnip

This was the first harvest from our winter garden. It is almost exciting as all the activity around and hopefully on Mars. And was excited to learn of the very distant Farfaraway out in the far far away of our solar system. It was many times the distance to Pluto.

I think it will not be colonized for a long long long time. Perhaps it would not be a place to raise three beets and and a turnip.

Three beets and a turnip.

WILD SINGING DOG THOUGHT LOST FILMED SINGING.

And that is a positive note in a world filled with negativity. Beyond that some scientists think they have viewed lightning in the clouds surrounding Venus. Storms on Neptune may have winds well over 1000 MPH. In addition to all that,we have received almost two inches of rain in Los Angeles. We have surpassed the Atacama Desert. Will Pluto again become a planet? Probably it will at the same time a $2,000 check is sent to most Americans.

As it is almost New Year’s Eve my thoughts turn to resolutions. I was never really good at making or keeping resolutions. As a student, each year I was resolved to be organized, take good notes and in college not ditch many classes. As an undergraduate I failed at most of these endeavors. It would have been good to know then about the singing dog. This year I may resolve to not watch the news so much. Maybe then, one day I will hear the bells ringing as we are back to a better future. That resolution will last as log as a kite flying during a Neptune wind storm.

Have a most wonderful New Years Eve. Keep safe and Then have an even better New Year.

Magawa Wins Medal

Magawa, a giant African Pouch Rat given an award for sniffing out land mines in Cambodia. He is too light to set off mines or ordinance and can cover as much territory in 30 minutes as humans can in four days. Wow! Some more good news.

After reading New York Time article, I looked up more information concerning this animal. Apparently they are also used to diagnose TB and are much faster than doctors are. Maybe they can be used to find water on Mars and new exoplanets. Tonight is first debate, could they be used to check facts.

Life on Venus

Probably the last place in the universe life would be expected to exist. As a child I remember some science fiction in which the cloudy Venus was depicted as a humid and earth like. Was sad to learn how hot and the crushing pressure. The life may exist in the clouds not the surface. Probably Pluto would be easier to colonize than the toxic clouds of Venus.

In these strange and interesting times it great to get some good news. Was also happy when the earthquake was just a short reminder of where we live. The only thing we lack now is an attack of trillions of zombie bats and humming birds.

What to do during the stay at home moments? I will not write a cookbook. Maybe I can finally write the great American novel. Over the years haven’t dot past “It was a dark and stormy night as the asteroid hurdled toward my hometown.” Anyway have the best September 23s ever.

Before the curfew

Am sitting here waiting for 6PM Curfew. Will I be able to get the recycle can or will it have to risk arrest? Today shot baskets, worked out on Bowflex and punching bag.

Tried to use Bowflex rowing feature. I am afraid I can’t give it 5 stars. That’s the kind thing I do while waiting for the curfew. Have a great and safe Tuesday evening and have good thoughts for recycling can.

Another Positive Sign

As I walked down one of the winding hidden streets near my house a bobcat became a walking companion. There was,of course, social distancing . Since the feline did not appear hungry and ready to cull the herd it was a pleasant and exciting experience. After a block or so it disappeared but as I turned from a Main Street to another up the hill road it suddenly walked past again.

Is that a sign that reopening should start or that bobcats are planning to reclaim their territory? Could it have been an alien checking out our world? Would the clean air and clear skies lead them to take over our world that had been protected by pollution? These are certainly exciting and strange times.

Blog from my safer at home studio.

It is still raining. It could be a good sign since we seldom have much falling from the sky this late in the year. Perhaps it is caused by global warming. That would no be so good.

In these Strange Times it might just be a Strange Happening. Anyway I want to wish everyone a most wonderful Monday.

A Stay at Home Rainy Day

Am sitting here looking out my back window getting ready to drink some tea with medium caffeine. My wife has made banana muffins. She is a great cook. We have been walking in our neighborhood up and down steep side streets. It’s easy to maintain a safe space or social distance because few people venture there. Last night learned that baby rabbits are quite helpless for quite some time and baby hares can move from the time they are born. Also discovered that fat is good and bad and gaining or losing is complex. Also a gravitational field is necessary to maintain an atmosphere. Uranus has much of its atmosphere flowing into space as a result of it’s strange field.

Good tea. Am deciding that watching the falling rain and wind moving the branches of our backyard trees is preferable to watching the news. Not that I don’t watch the news but swaying branches are easier on the soul. Does the gravitational field affect hares more than rabbits? And whatever happened to Venus’s? When I was young some centuries ago some thought that Venus might be much like a hot and topical Earth. At least most of my friends and neighbors realized the world was no flat. Have the best day possible and pet a friendly wombat if you can find one.

A cool, windy Sunday night

Have watched Roma, The Expanse, and am watching 60 minutes. Have been thinking about the world and the meaning of life. Even with my 80 years have never come close to the answers. Should we have a single payer health care? Should we name a school after the Mars rover, Opportunity? Do I miss work? Can I even remember what work is? What are the answers? Maybe there’s no answers. But my new knee and I wish you a happy Sunday night.
